The Jack O’Lantern Spectacular is open daily from Oct. Studio director Alene Day says pumpkins are replaced and redesigned each week during the run, so she recommends carving out time for multiple visits to Iroquois Park this October. Over 20 artists have their hands in this year’s festivities, marking the Spectacular’s tenth in Louisville. Pardue is the President and CEO of Parks Alliance of Louisville which operates the event. Because carved pumpkins don’t last forever, the display completely changes every seven days. “The Parks Alliance, which is the recipient of the proceeds from Jack O’Lantern Spectacular, supports the other 103 parks in Louisville, the vast majority of which are in underserved communities and really need our love.” Brooke Pardue explained. The Louisville Jackolantern Spectacular includes over 5,000 professionally carved jack-o-lanterns in themed scenes and set to music along a nearly one-third-mile trail through the woods of Iroquois Park.
Money raised by the month-long attraction is used to maintain and improve other Louisville parks.
